Launch of WOWPASS payment service for foreigners
WOWPASS service is a prepaid card service designed to simplify payments for foreigners while travelling in Korea.
WOWPASS is in the form of a physical card and has two main functions. First, it can be used as a debit card to make payment at restaurants, cafes, department stores. Secondly, it can be used as a transportation card for riding subways and buses in Korea. To utilize the transportation card function, you will need to top up the T-Money balance separately using KRW cash.
How to Use WOWPASS
When you arrive in Korea, go to the kiosk machine and issue WOWPASS card. Prepare your passport and cash. The fee for currency exchange through the machine is discounted by 50%, making it cheaper than banks, airports, and other money exchange services. The fee for card issuance and topping up is 5,000 won.
Manage Your Card Balance on a Mobile App
You can easily check your card balance and transaction history on WOWPASS Mobile App. Also, in case you lose your card, you can safely and quickly request a re-issue through the app. Before leaving for Korea, you can download the app (by searching for “WOWPASS”) and learn about the locations of WOWPASS kiosk machines and explore various benefits offered by partner agencies in advance.
Where to Issue the Card
You can issue the card at various locations, such as Incheon International Airport, Gimhae International Airport, etc. The location near our clinic is at the entry door of Lotte Mart on the B1 floor, inside Lotte Department Store Gwangbok. You can find the information about more locations, including hotels frequently visited by foreigners and subway stations, etc. in the app.
