A thread lift is a minimally-invasive surgery to lift the face. In the thread lift procedure, designed for medical use threads are placed into the face and then pulled up to tighten the skin. The thread lift procedure carries a very low risk and does not require a long recovery time.

However, there might be some redness, swelling, and bruising on the skin after the procedure. This is totally fine and there is no need to worry.

A thread lift, also known as a barbed suture lift, does not only tighten and lift the skin, it also improves the facial contour and shape. It is a suitable procedure for those who cannot undergo traditional facelift surgery because of medical conditions.

The threads that are inserted into the face are dissolving, that is with the course of time, they melt and disappear in the body.

Thread lift procedure is conducted under the local anesthesia or IV sedation. The doctor will use a thin needle or candle to insert the thread into the face and other target areas on the face. The procedure lasts around 20~30 minutes.

After placing the thread, the surgeon tightens the skin and then take out the needle or candle. The incision site, the doctor sutures with dissolving thread as well, thus, there is no additional treatment required.

The main target areas of a thread lift are jowls and jawline, brow line, forehead, and cheeks. The result of thread lift procedures may last from 1 to 2 years, and you can easily return to daily activities after the procedure.

For the first 2~3 weeks, it is advisable to avoid sauna, strenuous physical exercises. In addition, before you must inform the doctor about any medications you usually take.
