Often, it is said that wrong massaging of the breasts can make a breast implant move to another place, causing breast asymmetry.

So most of our customers ask if it is mandatory to get a breast massage and until when.

The main reason for breast massage is to prevent capsular contracture. What is capsular contracture? It is your body’s reaction to a foreign material that is an implant.

When a breast implant is placed, the body starts to develop a “capsule” around the breast implants.

At times, this capsule can tighten and cause some contracture. As a result, it can squeeze the tissues and make the breast hard to the touch.

To prevent this, a plastic surgeon may recommend a breast massage after breast enlargement surgery.

The doctor can decide the need for breast massage depending on the implant type. For example, in the case of texture type implants, the likelihood of capsular contracture is very low, so it does not require any massaging.

When it comes to the cohesive gel-like smooth types of breast implants, the surface is nubby, which can cause capsular contracture.

Therefore, it is advisable to practice breast massage for these types of implants. The breast massage must be done for six months after the stitches removal.
