What to do if the nose tip looks upturned after surgery

Surgery Editor Nick Posting update : 2021.06.03

If the nasal tip is blunt and droopy, it is possible to correct it with nasal tip rhinoplasty. However, oftentimes patients say that their tip looks upturned after the surgery and went to know why that is

The reason why the tip looks upturned is because of swelling. After any plastic surgery, including nose surgery, the surgery area swells.

In the case of rhinoplasty, swelling starts to subside in the order of nose bridge and nose tip. Therefore, it takes some time for swelling to go away.

According to what the doctor tells patients before and after the surgery, it takes 6 months to see the final result of the surgery.

It is vital to stay patient and calm until the final surgery result because it is said that all the swelling disappears within six months.

After rhinoplasty, one should apply an iced pack onto the surrounding surgery areas such as eyes and front cheeks for two days. It will help alleviate swelling on the nose bridge and tip as well.

Starting from the 3rd day after the surgery, one can apply a warm pack that boosts blood circulation.

It is important to remember that it is not allowed to rub, touch the nose, and tip and apply iced or warm packs directly onto the surgery site.
