Lower blepharoplasty, also known as lower eyelid surgery, is a cosmetic procedure performed to improve wrinkles, sagging, and puffiness of lower eyelids.

Usually, the lower eyelid surgery is done in conjunction with upper eyelid surgery, facelift, or brow lift surgeries.

Lower blepharoplasty is conducted under local anesthesia with IV sedation. As for the side effects, there might be bruising, swelling which is normal after the plastic surgery. However, swelling and bruising gradually subside within 1~2 weeks.

During the surgery, the doctor makes an incision in the lower eyelid and removes sagging skin and wrinkles. Depending on the condition of the lower eyelids, the surgery can also remove excess fat in the lower eyelid area. The surgery may last for 1 to 2 hours.

As far as the efficacy of the surgery is concerned, the result of the surgery depends on how well one takes care of the surgery site and follows post-surgery guidelines after the surgery. The surgeon emphasizes the importance of self-care even after the surgery to maintain efficacy.
