Can I wear contact lenses after Upper Blepharoplasty?

Surgery Ria Posting update : 2022.04.12

Upper blepharoplasty is eyelid surgery to rejuvenate the appearance of upper eyelids by removing extra skin and fat tissue.

If you wear contact lenses, you may have some concerns about getting the surgery. When can you wear contact lenses after surgery?

You need to wait for 2-3 weeks after the stitches removal to start wearing the contact lenses again.

However, if you experience dry eyes, you might wait a little bit longer. Though you may have some inconveniences,

it is very important to follow this instruction. It takes about 2-3 weeks for the eyelid skin tissue to heal and get less sensitive.

Wearing makeup and contact lenses too soon, may cause inflammations and prolong the recovery process.

Moreover, pulling the eyelid area near the incision site may interfere with the healing process since the incisional site may re-open.

If you have bad eyesight, we recommend you to wear glasses for 2-3 weeks after the surgery.

Make sure your eyeglasses are in good working condition because you will need to rely on them during your post-surgery recovery period.
