What does the brow lift do?

Surgery Editor Nick Posting update : 2021.11.02

Browlift also called a forehead lift, is a cosmetic surgery that improves horizontal wrinkles across the forehead, creases or wrinkles on the bridge of the nose, frown lines, drooping eyebrows. This procedure also makes a person look younger and fresh.

The surgeon administers local anesthesia with IV sedation. There are two types of brow lift surgery: endoscopic brow lift and coronal brow lift. The difference between these two procedures lies in the incision area.

In an endoscopic brow lift, the doctor makes incisions within the hairline using an endoscope. Through endoscopic brow lift, it is possible to adjust underlying muscles and tissues.

A coronal incision is done from ear to ear across the top of the head. Then the surgeon tightens the muscles and lifts the skin. The scar is almost invisible.

The doctor uses special clips, skin adhesives, or absorbable sutures to close the incision. Stitches are removed on the 10th ~ 14th day after the surgery. It is necessary to avoid strenuous exercising, hot bath, alcohol for the first three weeks after the surgery.
