When can I have laser after fat grafting?

Surgery Editor Nick Posting update : 2022.04.11

Fat grafting is a procedure that adds volume to hollow and saggy areas on the face. After fat grafting, the transplanted fat needs to be engrafted well.

Therefore, many clients ask if it is okay to undergo laser treatments. If so, when can one start that?

In 2-3 weeks, the fat becomes somehow engrafted. From that time, one can start having pigmentation lasers and skincare treatments.

However, there are certain kinds of lasers one should avoid after fat grafting. They are high-frequency wavelength lasers.

Such lasers melt the engrafted fat. Therefore, we recommend that one should undergo such lasers after 6 months.

Whatever procedure one undergoes, it is important to consult with a board-certified plastic surgeon or dermatologist in advance.
